MOEDC Online ACT Training Series
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Eating Disorders, presented by Rhonda Merwin, PhD of Duke University Medical Center. ACT is a contemporary cognitive-behavioral therapy that helps individuals let go of the struggle with difficult thoughts and feelings, so that they can author and pursue personal values. This webinar will provide an overview of the ACT model and its application to eating disorders. Participants will learn the head (theory), heart (experience) and hands (tools) of ACT via both didactic and experiential learning methods. Recordings of each session will be made available.

Telehealth Considerations for Eating Disorder Mental Health Providers During the COVID-19 Pandemic

This AED webinar features a Q and A with an expert panel of eating disorder mental health providers from a variety of countries. Different panelists will be able to speak to how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting levels of care, ranging from outpatient to inpatient/hospitalization. The panelists also have different areas of expertise within evidence-based treatment modalities for patients across the lifespan. Suggestions for adapting evidence-based practices, such as through telehealth, will be provided. Other treatment implications and considerations will be discussed to assist providers in maintaining treatment efficacy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the latest news and mandates on the COVID-19 pandemic, most dietitians and other treatment providers have moved their counseling practices and intensive outpatient programs to telehealth formats. This presentation will provide information on how to get started with telehealth and how to deliver quality nutrition counseling virtually. Practical guidance on consent, malpractice protection, weight checks, meal support, coached meals, and nutrition assessment will be outlined. US-specific issues of licensure and billing 3rd party payers will be discussed.
